It’s getting closer and closer (I can feel it)
There’s magic riding the air now (Can you see it?)
Just one more sleep 'til I open (all my presents now)

Can’t wait to see all my new toys (so excited)
All wrapped and ready to play with (I can’t hide it)
How can I sleep knowing that I’m (just an hour away?)

When I was young all that I heard was “what do you want this year?”

Well I’ll have a brand new car
And you can throw in a new guitar
I’ll write some songs and be a huge rock star
So I’ll be needing lots of money to spend on my hair when I’m on tour
When I’m at home
I’ll need some games like Super Mario
And food in tins like those Spaghettios
So I can sit around and do nothing all day like I dream of
But when you get older you don’t get these things
You just get some socks and the odd biscuit tin
So make the most of Christmas when you’re young

I used to love decorations (in the windows)
In all the stores on the street but (now I know)
That all it means is I’ll be more (likely to spend)

I used to write lists of presents (all I wanted)
And things I’ll buy in the sales (money’s counted)
Now I write cheques paying out to (everybody else)

Now that I’m older I just wish to have a few days off work
